Basement or The Cave in Sift Heads World is unlocked through the first completed playthrough (it can be unlocked through a cheat code in Act 1 but not in other acts).

The katana belonging to Kiro's assassinated brother. Even if Vinnie had killed his brother during a contract for the Yakuza, Kiro got his true vengeance by killing the ones really responsible. The order came from Kiro's own clan. Since that day Kiro has been a renegade. (Reference: Sift Renegade)
When Kiro was still an honorable member of the Yakuza, the Chinese Triad launched an attack at the heart of his clan. That is when a plot to kill his brother was executed. Due to a strange bug in Act 5, most of the treasures are appeared to be invisible (excluding the Revolver, Vinnie's first pet, red tie and first license plate)
In act 6, you can access "Treasures" after your first playthrough without entering the Cave
You can access the Cave right away in Sift Heads Reborn but you will not see any treasures
When you first access to the Cave in Act 1, you will earn 1000$ for the Secondary mission - Hidden Memories
