Kienji was Kiro's younger brother and a playable character in Sift Renegade 3 and its expansion, Sift Renegade 3: Defiance. He is the target in the Sift Heads 4 mission, "Shadow of Traditions".

Background[]

Sift Renegade 3, the Defiance Expansion, and Sift Heads 4[]

Before his death, his older brother Kiro trained him to become a member of the Yakuza. They are both sent to take back Yakuza territory from the Triads and shut it down to finish his training. He tells Kiro that it is an honor to follow his path, and is ordered to "watch and learn". They fight some Triads with dual Uzis, batons, and katanas. Eventually, they reach an area with a building. Kiro tells him to take a nearby motorcycle and wait for his mark. Once Kiro took two cases, Kiro walked over to a pickup truck, which a guard assumes that he was going to leave with it. Kienji drives the motorcycle over to Kiro and picks him up.

Kienji was later given orders by Yuuma to get money from a gang that has not paid the Yakuza in some time. After giving them a beating, he manages to convince them to pay up. He later goes to the south side and attacks them. After fighting a few of them, he becomes disappointed that there were fewer people, until more comes to his way, to which he states "Ask and get served" and kills them all.

He continues his mission and accidentally ends up in the wrong place. He pushes forward by killing some Triads. Kienji eavesdrops on Yuuma's conversation with a member of the Triads. To avoid a disturbance in their ranks, Yuuma has a Yakuza Chief hire a professional bounty hunter to assassinate him.

After eavesdropping on the conversation, Kienji panics and embarks on a mission to find his brother, and fighting more Triads along the way. He gets to a car and uses a phone to call Kiro, but he had to send a voicemail instead, which he decided not to send. He drives away from the location.

He arrives in an area where some Triads are sent to guard, and where he believes Kiro should be around. There, he encounters Shigeru, fighting some Triads and being overwhelmed. He comes to help him kill the Triads, and manages to impress him. Kienji asks Shigeru if he has seen Kiro anywhere, to which Shigeru tells him that if he helps finish the mission, he'll lead him to Kiro.

They pushed forward and reached a warehouse with many more Triads. They pushed forward even more by killing the Triad members and reach a locked door that requires a keycard. Shigeru is infuriated by the fact that they needed a keycard, and Kienji tells him to calm down and search the bodies. They eventually find the keycard on one of the bodies and use it on the door, allowing them to progress.

They found Hayate, a member of the Yakuza, bleeding all over and tied to a chair. Shigeru runs to Hayate to untie him, but Kienji notices that it's a trap set up by the Triads. They are then ambushed by them, but successfully pushes through them.

Later on, they found Shawn, who thought that Shigeru died. Suspecting that the one who saved his life is Kiro's brother, Kienji confirms and tells him that he must find Kiro and talk to him immediately. They walked in a snowy area, explaining to them what he figured out; someone betrayed the Yakuza, which surprises Shigeru, and Kienji calms him down by telling him that he prefers telling Kiro about it first. They kept on walking, until suddenly, Kienji was shot in the head.

Legacy[]

When Kiro was saving Shawn, he found out that Kienji was killed, but he was under the false belief of the Triads killing him. Believing they had killed his brother, he took his vengeance on them, but clues eventually led back to the Yakuza. When he realized a Yakuza Chief had hired Vinnie, he decides to eliminate Vinnie and everyone who wanted his brother dead. To this end, after killing the chief, Kiro abducted Shorty to lure Vinnie out and kill him, but Vinnie defeats and spares him. Citing it was merely business, Vinnie suggests Kiro to hunt down those who paid him, warning Kiro to never bother him again.

During the events of Sift Renegade 2, Kiro managed to piece together what had really happened and found out that the Yakuza Chief had paid Vinnie to kill Kienji and started the chain of betrayals and the renegade.

Kiro would join Vinnie much later, and fully avenged his brother by killing Yuuma.
