The Yakuza is a Japanese crime syndicate and major antagonistic force in the Sift Heads Series since their debut in Sift Heads World: Act 2 and the Sift Renegade series. Kiro was a member of this organization until internal corruption led to the death of his brother, Kienji. They mostly resemble their real world counterparts in the games.
Their involvements in the series used to revolve around Kiro betrayal and their revenge, but now since shifted to revenge for Yuuma and prize on the bounty hunters' heads (such as Vinnie's group).
Story[]
Sift Renegade 3[]
In the earliest canonical appearance of the Yakuza, Kienji is a new recruit brought in by his brother Kiro. Kiro trains him to join the ranks of the Yakuza. Throughout the events of the game, Kienji discovers Yuuma's illicit deal with the Triads (a rival Chinese crime syndicate) while on a mission in Triad territory and attempts to inform others.
Expansion - Defiance[]
In the extended conclusion of Sift Renegade 3, Kienji has just discovered Yuma's betrayal and tries to inform his wiser older brother of it. He finds his way out of the territory and tries to call Kiro, which goes to voicemail since Kiro wasn't around. While trying to find his brother, Kienji meets up with Shigeru, another member of the Yakuza, fighting with Triads. He reveals that Kiro is on another case and that he can lead Kenji to him if he could help him finish his rescue mission first. The mission however fails and the person in need of rescue is ultimately killed in trap set for Shigeru, however Kienji and Shigeru survived. After enduring another attack by Triad men, the two meet up with Shawn and Kenji starts explaining the traitor among the Yakuza, but wanted to talk with his brother first. Moments later, he is sniped and killed by Vinnie.

Kiro rushes his way to Shawn. After taking out some guards, the heavily injured Shawn tells him that "they" killed Kenji. Shawn is then shot by a Triad Member. Assuming that the Triads were the killers, Kiro goes to their headquarters to confront and kill the Triad Chief. Before the Triad Chief died, he tells Kiro that he and his clan have nothing to do with Kenji's death. He also tells Kiro about the common knowledge of having traitors in the Yakuza Clan. Knowing this, Kiro goes and confronts the Yakuza Chief about his brother's death. He tells him that he wasn't the one who killed him but he ordered "one of the best bounty hunters in the world" to do it. After Kiro killed the Yakuza Chief, he finds a transcript between "T" and Vinnie discussing about the assassination.
